Bivol vs. Beterbiev: How Much Will They Earn in the October 12 Showdown?

On October 12, 2024, Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev will face off in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for the undisputed light heavyweight world championship. Originally scheduled for June 1, the bout was postponed after Beterbiev sustained a meniscus injury. Now, all the major light heavyweight titles are on the line in a highly anticipated clash between two undefeated champions.

Earnings Breakdown: Bivol vs. Beterbiev

Since 2021, Dmitry Bivol’s earnings have surged. According to Sporty Salaries, he earns at least $1 million per fight, supplemented by a share of pay-per-view (PPV) sales. His biggest payday came from his fight against Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, where Bivol earned a guaranteed $2 million and secured 40% of the PPV revenue. This brought his total earnings from that fight to around $5 million—far surpassing his previous title bouts.

For other fights, such as his matchup against Gilberto Ramirez in the UAE, Bivol received a base fee of $750,000, with a 70% share of PPV, boosting his earnings to $3 million. His fight against Lind Arthur saw Bivol take home $1.2 million.

Artur Beterbiev, known for his knockout power, has not yet fought anyone as globally recognized as Canelo. Beterbiev started his career with modest paydays of $5,000 per fight. However, his unification bout with Alexander Gvozdyk earned him $1.5 million, his highest payday until his recent fight against Callum Smith.

In the Smith fight, Beterbiev earned $1.3 million, excluding bonuses and PPV revenue, likely bringing his total earnings for that bout to around $2 million. Before stepping into the ring with Smith, Beterbiev’s career earnings were estimated at $8 million.

Expected Pay for the October 12 Showdown

Both fighters are poised to receive substantial paydays for their much-anticipated battle. While it’s unlikely Bivol will top the $5 million he earned against Canelo, he’s still set for one of the largest paychecks of his career. Experts expect Beterbiev’s base fee to exceed $2 million, likely matching or surpassing his previous high earnings.

While exact figures remain undisclosed, the October 12 fight is shaping up to be a financial windfall for both Bivol and Beterbiev, with the winner taking home not just the titles but also a hefty check.
